REACH Latest Amendments of Harmonized Standards – March 2023 –

What is REACH?

REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals, and it is a regulation of the European Union (EU) that came into effect on June 1, 2007. Its goal is to protect human health and the environment from the risks posed by chemicals while promoting the competitiveness of the EU chemical industry.

REACH latest amendments

Since its implementation, REACH has undergone several amendments to keep up with the latest scientific and technological developments and to ensure the continuous improvement of chemical safety. Some significant amendments to REACH include requirements for information and authorization (2016 and 2017), the registration of nanomaterials, and the restriction of hazardous substances (both in 2018).

REACH is a living regulation, and amendments are made regularly to ensure that it remains effective and up-to-date with the latest scientific findings. The latest amendments under REACH refer to the standards under entry 27 (nickel) of Annex XVII of REACH) 2023/C 80/06.
